Visa Seeks Developer for 'Secure, Scalable' Blockchain Project - 

Visa has revealed it is seeking to hire a software engineer to help it create a "secure, scalable blockchain network". The news comes as Visa's interest in blockchain technologies escalates following its participation in Chain's $30m funding round last September.

5 Blockchain Startups Join Plug and Play FinTech Incubator - 

Bitcoin remittance startup Abra is one of five blockchain startups to be accepted into the latest financial technology program operated by startup incubator Plug and Play. BlockNotary, BlockSeer, Skuchain and Token are also set to take part in the program.

Japanese Legislator Calls for Bitcoin Tax Exemption - 

A legislator in Japan's ruling political party has called for bitcoin purchases to be exempt from an 8% consumption tax, a regional news source says. The issue was up for debate during a budgetary committee hearing in the lower house of the Japanese legislature, the Diet, on 5th February.

Bank of America Latest to Conduct Blockchain Trade Finance Trial - 

Bank of America has revealed it is working on a blockchain-based trial centered on trade finance. With the announcement, Bank of America joins Standard Chartered and Development Bank Singapore (DBS) as the major banks that are seeking to apply blockchain technology for the use case.
