Rootstock Raises $1 Million to Bring Smart Contracts to Bitcoin Blockchain -

Blockchain startup RSK Labs has raised $1m in seed funding to support the development of its Rootstock smart contracts project. Bitcoin mining company Bitmain Technology led the round, which also drew support from the bitcoin and blockchain focused investment companies Coinsilium and Digital Currency Group.

The Australian government announced its commitment today to a legislative solution that would seek to ease tax burdens for bitcoin users. The government is also weighing regulations for both digital currency exchanges as well as companies that use blockchain tech.

Bitcoin surveillance startup Elliptic has raised $5m in Series A funding. Paladin Capital Group led the round, which also drew support from Santander InnoVentures, KRW Schindler, Digital Currency Group and Octopus Ventures, an existing investor in the firm.
