What's Left Before SegWit Goes Live

October 7th, 2016

“Time is money, but also money is money.”
– William Gibson, from Pattern Recognition

Developers are still testing for bugs, but it looks like the activation code for SegWit download and trials is about to drop. It will no doubt come accompanied by some controversy, and the change won’t happen quickly, but the potential increase in the number of transactions is exciting. Will it be enough to revive consumer interest?

No big announcements are expected at the Scaling Bitcoin gathering in Milan this weekend, although SegWit will be talked about. Pete (@pete_rizzo_) and Ryan (@twobitidiot) will be there to bring you the takeaways.

There's more:

· Someone really doesn’t want ethereum to work. Here's how.

· Russia’s Central Bank is investigating distributed ledger transactions. Trial successful.

· The FBI is investigating a theft of bitcoin related to the Bitfinex hack. The plot thickens.

· Nasdaq wants to patent blockchain backups for exchanges. More details.
