Clarke | Zcash hasn’t launched yet, but strong demand has sent its futures price up more than 10x over the past month. Is this a clear case of FOMO? Or does it reveal a strong need for private transactions? A large part of the interest could stem from recent debate about bitcoin’s fungibility. Supporters argue that Zcash’s emphasis on anonymity gives it a distinct advantage over bitcoin in that area, and its flexibility in sharing transaction information presents opportunities for intriguing use cases. However, although the new protocol has been exhaustively audited, it has yet to be tested by the market, and it is unclear how effectively it would scale.
