We can now announce that the winner of CoinDesk's Most Influential Person in Blockchain 2016 survey is… (drumroll)...

The DAO Hacker.

While many will wonder why such a character deserves to be acknowledged, it's hard to deny that he (or she, or they) did change our tone on smart contracts, cause an irrevocable split in the ethereum network, and put a necessary dent in the all-too-shiny hype.

Here is the list of the Top 10:
  1. The DAO Hacker
  2. Vitalik Buterin
  3. Andreas Antonopoulos
  4. Satoshi Nakamoto
  5. Adam Ludwin
  6. Pieter Wuille
  7. Don and Alex Tapscott
  8. Richard Gendal Brown
  9. Chris DeRose and Junseth
  10. Perianne Boring
