As part of our Year in Review series, CoinDesk contributor Frederick Reese sums up the state of blockchain regulation in the US.

Frederick shows how inconsistent and ambiguous attempts to define and regulate virtual currencies at the state level, plus active investigation of blockchain technology at the federal level, have set the stage for 2017.

Looking forward, Frederick reports that uncertainty – both from the consequences of the technology and from a change in government – could be the biggest roadblock to progress on blockchain regulation and implementation.
