In the year since ethereum debuted on the blockchain scene, smart contracts have gone from white boards to corporate board rooms.

Yet, it's not clear that this broad interest has translated to understanding. 

In a new CoinDesk Opinion piece, blockchain consultant Olivier Rikken outlines three basic misconceptions he still faces when guiding more business-oriented newcomers – with mistakes ranging from simple terminology to complexities relating to the technology's functionality in practice.
