Blockchain Adoption Optimism Fades at DTCC Fintech Event

At an event hosted yesterday by the DTCC in New York, a shift in sentiment was revealed.

Furthermore, the audience was again asked when they thought blockchains would enter production. Last year almost a third expected it to be within 12 months. This year, less than 5% voted for the same time frame, with almost a half expecting mainstream adoption to be 3-4 years away.

*NEW COINDESK RESEARCH*

In CoinDesk Research's Spotlight Study released earlier this week, we highlighted the sentiment around blockchain token sales ('ICOs') from both the investor and entrepreneur perspective.

More than 90% of our 'entrepreneurial' segment worked at a startup with less than 10 employees or $1 million raised or in the bank. Many were founders in the accelerator program of Boost VC, who helped us disseminate our survey.

An interesting takeaway: out of several motives for considering ICOs, raising funds for a business and purchasing tokens for platform utility were tied for the lowest selected choice.

For more data on the ICO market, view our full report (and special thanks to the Boost team!)
