Set to kick off Wednesday, the annual Devcon summit is set to draw hundreds of techies and non-techies alike to the shores of Cancun, just in time for a winter respite. But if relaxation is on the docket, so will aspiration be on display. In a suite of talks this year, ethereum is setting its sights forward, looking to galvanize growth for a strong 2018. Yet, the most anticipated talk may be one that's more in spirit with fall holidays. Pegged by CoinDesk's editorial team as the top session to watch is one on Casper, the experimental proof-of-stake algorithm, based on the GHOST protocol, that could end up being key to fulfilling ethereum's technology vision. There, developer Vlad Zamfir will give an update on the topic, and so far he's pledging to publish information enough to tide over those who have long been in waiting. The result could do much to inform ethereum's outlook, and it's safe to say, here as on Halloween, the market will be hoping for something sweet (and to be spared any scares).
